Frozen Half Shell Green Lipped Mussels

Green-lipped mussels, cooked and opened on the half shell. The outside of each shell is a deep blue-black, and the inside edge carries the blue-green band the mussel is named for. The meats are plump and gold, sitting in a little pool of buttery juices.

Half shell means no shucking. Steam them with garlic and white wine, grill them with a spoon of butter and breadcrumbs, or warm them in a tomato and chilli broth and serve with bread.
